Nucleus spreaded on multiple neuraxis segments. The nucleus spinalis nervi trigemini is a large elongated nucleus, which extends from the pons, the medulla oblongata and up to the top of the medulla spinalis. It receives projections from four different cranial nerves.Because it is nevertheless predominantly located in the medulla oblongata, and for the sake of avoiding dissemination of information at several distant locations, it has been preferred to consider this nucleus as entirely part of the medulla oblongata. Therefore, either the pons and the spinal cord present references to this entity, but no partonomic links.
